Priest – Shadow and Holy Powers

Priests are known to be very capable healers in WoW. Priests but, can also deal nice amounts of hurt as well. If you choose to play this class you will have a choice between different races. The Horde faction has Blood Elf, Undead and Troll priests in it’s ranks. If you want to make a Priest and be part of the Alliance you can choose between a Draenei, Dwarf, Humand and Night Elf priest. Each race has its own racial abilities so have a look at these before you make your character because some are more useful for a priest than others.

Priests use mana to cast both their offensive and healing spells and in order to be efficient at what they do they need to generate mana so a lot of spirit is needed, intellect is needed to give them a mana pool and spell power is needed to make their spells more powerful. The priest has three talent trees and depending on what kind of priest you want to make you can choose between the Shadow, Discipline and Holy talent trees. The  Holy talent tree is used for players that want to heal in PvE scenarios. When you choose to be a Holy Priest you can nearly forget about dealing hurt but you will but become an awesome healer for single and multiple targets with several spells like Circle of Healing. Guardian Spirit, Prayer of Healing, Flash and Greater heals, Renew and more. The Shadow talent tree gives the priests the ability to do a lot of hurt.

Shadow Priests have several hurt over time spells like Devouring Plague and Shadow Word Pain which are very effective.Because they also have spells that restore mana and health for party and raid member they are a excellent asset to every raid. The Discipline talent tree is usually chosen by Priests that want to heal in battlegrounds and in arenas. They are really tough because they have protective spells which make the priest and his allies really hard to kill.

Besides a nice amount of healing and damaging spells the priests also have some fantastic buffs like Spirit buff, Stamina buff and Shadow Protection buffs. They can also resurrect, dispel magic and disease, mass dispel, shackle undead, dread targets, mana burn etc. Threat plays an vital role in WoW and luckily the Priests can fade when they get a bit too much agro to reduce their threat. Priests can only wear cloth armor. They are not high on hit points as other classes are but they certainly have a large mana pool. If you choose to become a Shadow priest you will have to have particular stats on your gear. You will want to get a lot spell power, hit and crit rating, intellect and spirit on your gear.

Healing priests should aim for the same stats but they can leave out the hit rating and take haste rating instead. The most annoying part of a priest is leveling it even though the Shadow talent tree makes it a bit simpler. As you hit level 40 and get Shadow Form it will be a lot simpler though and once you hit the level cap you can count on many dungeon and raid spots as either a healer or hurt dealer.
